Matt Doherty is a Managing Director on MSIG’s investment team and is responsible for managing the firm’s investment process by overseeing the sourcing, origination, diligence, and execution of portfolio investments.

Matt is also responsible for managing and overseeing the firm’s operating processes, systems, and procedures across business lines to augment efficiency and controls and mitigate firmwide risk. Matt is actively involved in developing and implementing the firm’s investment theses, strategies, and verticals.

Prior Experience

Prior to forming MSIG, Matt was a Managing Director at Township Capital where he was responsible for sourcing and executing new portfolio investments as well as overseeing operating procedures across the firm’s business units.

Matt previously worked at Bain Capital, a global alternative investment manager with $155 billion in AUM, in their Boston headquarters. At Bain, Matt was a member of the Co-Investment team that worked in tandem with the Finance and Investment groups on private equity, credit and venture transactions ranging in size from $100 million to $1+ billion.

Prior to joining Bain, Matt worked at JPMorgan (NYSE: JPM) in Boston.

Education

Matt received a B.S. with a concentration in Finance and minor in Economics from Bentley University in Waltham, MA.
